About Kindred Hearts

KHC was founded in 2011 by Patrik and Leanne Foff who, after visiting Cambodia discovered a dire need for high quality medical care that is both easily accessible and affordable. The KHC medical clinic is located in a remote village, Sre Po, a few kilometres outside the town of Stung Treng. Stung Treng, one of the most remote towns in all of Cambodia, is located in northeastern Cambodia along the Sekong River.

In partnership with the Stung Treng Women’s Development Centre (SWDC) (www.mekongblue.com), the KHC medical clinic will cater to the needs of women and children who reside at the development centre. SWDC trains women in the art of silk weaving, and allows the women to sell their products online and in stores in Cambodia. Since the inception of SWDC in 2001, over 300 women have earned livelihoods from silk weaving! Their products have been recognized by UNESCO for their high quality and originality. Also on-site at SWDC is a kindergarten class, a child care facility and most recently an orphanage that is home to over 80 children and caregivers.

The villages surrounding the SWDC suffer high unemployment rates, low educational attainment and as a result, low earning power. To prevent out of pocket expenses on health care, the Kindred Hearts Medical Clinic (KHMC) was established in 2013, and provides free health care to hundreds of villagers. KHMC provides high quality medical treatment and aims to improve the quality of life of Cambodians.
